Your property is probably your biggest asset. Fraudsters are targetting property where there is no mortgage or the owner lives elsewhere. They try to "steal" the property by using forged documents to impersonate the true owner.
One way of protecting yourself is to ensure that the Land Registry has up to date contact information for you. The Land Registry will register up to three addresses for you - including an email address - and it is important to use this facilty particularly when you own a property and reside elsewhere.
The Land Registry website (click on the title above) has a link to a form so that registered owners can update their contact information.
